I would like to ask if there is a tutorial about building a boxplot chart from an excel or word table. Something like the pictures I have uploaded.
Thank you
Go to Files/Online Examples in DataGraph.
Search using the term ‘bar’.
The last file in the list has a basic graph that is similar.
The data format is such that the errors have to be in a separate column, as in this example:
If you paste your data in and change the column headers the graphs should update the labels.
Note the command being used is a Bars command.
The column with the error is specified for each column of data. You have to expand the data section in the command to see that setting.
If you want to have multiple grouping of bar graphs, I made a new file to illustrate how that can be done.
This one was just uploaded to the examples …. and makes this graph.
This file shows two ways to make the above graph.
Please see the file for more information.
For some basic examples of making bar graphs from scratch see:
FYI — if you have access to the raw data, you can easily calculate the error bars and make the graphs at the same time using the Pivot command.
Let us know if this helped or if you have any other questions.
Thank you very much, I have created the charts I wanted. The only question that I have is how to make the little boxes at the top right indicated with V1 and V2…..
p.s. (sorry I figure it out)
Do you mean the legend with V1 and V2?
If so you add a by adding a Legend command.
This will add the command and will use the names of the columns by default.
By default, the legend command will have an entry for every command.
Note: If you used a Split axis and have multiple commands, you may need to limit which axis the legend is based upon.
For more information on editing the legend please see the the Legend command documentation.

Is there a way to have the error bars in front of the main bars? like the screenshot below?
The setting to change that is in the expanded view of the command.
Change the Negative error to ‘Same’
FYI — This is the default setting when you create a new Bars command, but was changed in this example.
