      This is a continuation of my “how to do scatter plot” question. Ok I have a column of data that is satellite number – there are several satellites in the column. Each satellite has several points, each point has a RAAN column (an angle) and a time column. I need to plot with each satellite a separate color.

      I have a sample file but don’t see how to assign a unique color to each satellite 🙁 I am creating a color scheme but am doing something wrong. I looked at the manual (about page 35). Are you in the US? Could I call someone?

        We added an example to this page that shows where you can create a color scheme, in the Points command.

        If you already have a color scheme you would select it directly.

        Does this help?

          USA 137 newHmm. I am making some progress. I had to copy a bunch of stuff from Pamela’s example she sent me and don’t totally understand it all yet, but it is producing useful plots.

          Now if I could just figure out what the data is telling me.

              I’m not sure if this would be useful, but you can transform periodic data such as yours ….

              PeriodicData1

              and extend it along a single line ….

              PeriodicData2

              using the ‘unwrap360’ column property

              PeriodicData3

              Then you could fit all the data for a single category along one line, to get the slope.  You would have to have the data for a single item in one column, which you could do from a larger data set using a mask column.

              Might not be what you are after but wanted to show you an example.

                I have been manually measuring slope and am about to look around for a way to have DataGraph calculate the slope for me, the contention is that different satellites have very similar slopes of that line IF they are from the same launch.

                The points go from a larger to smaller value of RAAN as the satellite goes around the Earth, that is why the value of RAAN is restricted to being between 0 and 360 (like a lot of periodic measurements).

                  The Fit command will determine the slope for you.

                  You may want to look at some examples.  Search ‘linear fit’ in the example files …
