When you import a csv into a Datagraph document, does it actually copy the data? Can you move or delete the csv without affecting your Datagraph document?

      Thanks.

Yes, when you open or import a CSV file, the program makes a copy of the data that is saved along with the DataGraph file.  You can delete or move the CSV and it will not affect you DG file.

One way to be certain about when data is saved in the file, versus calculated values or linked data is the weight of the text in the data table.  When you have data in the table is bold face font, it is either a calculated values, derived from data, or a column from a linked source.  Normal text indicates that you are looking at data that is saved with the file.

FYI – In the current Beta, you can link to CSV files on-line, so you don’t need to download the file. Watch a demo here: https://youtu.be/lbfMrk7PdgE

        Hope this helps!

          Yes, thanks, good to know.

I need to import about 9 csv files, each with 6 cols x 200,000 rows. I hope DG can handle it!

Although I see you had some issues with the data being imported as dates, based on your follow up question, just wanted to comment on the size of the data that you’re importing.

Nine files with 6cols and 200,000 rows should be absolutely no problem with DataGraph. You should be able to bring in millions of rows and still the program should be pretty snappy.

FYI – in case you did not see this, you can drag and drop all nine files at once.  Check out this demo video and about 2 minutes, you’ll see how to drag them all files in together, either as individual columns or in separate groups.

Depending on what you need to do, you can also append all nine files in DG. You would place all the groups of data into one top level group and then use the Append subgroups option.

If anything seems slow, please let us know!
