      Hello,

I’am trying to open a file I previously saved, with .dgraphs estension. I can see it with the “open” command, but the software (5.2 release) does not open it and no software tab is opened.

Is there a bug? Can you help me?

      Kind regards

      Vito Paradiso

        Hi Vito,

We have not had other reports of this issue, so there is no known bug. It would be great if you could email us a copy of the file.

Ah – I have files that do not open as well. Very very frustrating, also with 5.2

Can you try opening them with the Beta?

Also, if you get an error, please email us the crash log or send a screenshot of what is happening.

                Sorry spoke too soon.

So the issue seems to be if I read in a datagraph package file and then save that as a single file using ‘save as..’  Then it is impossible to open in the regular way.

Strangely I can open that newly created single file datagraph by opening the ‘Online Examples’ menu and then open from the recent files option in that dialog.  So it doesnt open by double clicking on the filename nor from the File–> open recent option. I have to go through the ‘Online Examples’ dialogue.

Even worse. Once I have attempted and failed to open the single file data-graph file, then datagraph refuses to open any file at all, until I quit datagraph and restart  it. I won’t open the  converted single file datagraph file, but it will then open other files.

The danger of course is as soon as that file falls off the end of the recent files within the ‘Online Examples’ dialogue box, then it will be impossible to ever open again !

I am happy to send you the file as an example if you wish. I have tried copying to a different Mac, and it still doesnt open.

I have the same issue, with my Mac.

I will send you the file.

                  Kind regards

Thanks for reporting this issue and sending us the files to isolate it.

We have fixed this in the latest beta version.  Please install the beta and let us know if this resolves the issue.

It turned out that a combination of settings caused the problem, so most users did not encounter this error. If you used the *.dgraphs format, had the Help notes turned on, AND had a graph group as the first item in the Thumbnails, then it was causing a run-time error when the file was opened. You can also avoid this problem by turning off Help notes for new files (Select Help > Show Help Notes for New Files to toggle them on and off). But it would be great to confirm that the error no longer occurs with the new beta, even with the Help notes for New Files turned on.

Yes – this seems to have fixed it – Thanks so much. Was a real headache, and I appreciate how quickly you fixed this.

                      Many thanks
