The ability to make up to a 4×4 array of scatterplots is quite useful, although the array is redundant because the it is symmetric. Even better would be the ability to easily make a rectangular array of one set of variables against another for a quick look at correlations. I’ve done this with a 7×8 array and it is quite a useful visualization.
Do you think there is an upper limit where these are no longer useful? Say 10 on one side? Or would you want the ability to add any number of variables to a side?
I would think that more than 10×10 would be hard to read, so that’s a reasonable upper limit.
