Excel Import & Overwrite – Repeat plots from same data set structure.

Hello All.

How can i use dataGraph to do the following?

The main aim is to be able to repeat the data import so that the plots will automatically update & thus automate the repeating data to plot process (Without having to redefine X:Y in plot every time).

Note: The data structure & input cell position will always be the same in excel & to simplify i have created an output tab within the spreadsheet – The only change will be the numerical values. (See below).

This results in an import (Using /Data/import Excel Sheet & with plots work in progress)

Steps below (With OK or How? tagged)

1. Import Sheet from Large Excel File – OK
2. Use Data to plot a number of plots – OK
3. Reimport & Overwrite same dataset (Values may change) – How?
4. Plots Auto update (Without having to re-select X:Y for each plot) – How?

To reimport, first select the data you want to overwrite, then redo the import step.

For example here is a simple dataset with a graph using the data.  Start by clicking any row of the data to select.

Next, you want to select all the data.  One quick way is to use Command-A.

Then, use Data > Import Excel Sheet, as you did before.  Select the data and click Import Selection.

Then the data is overwritten and all the graphs using that data are automatically updated.

If you open your excel sheet, you can also copy and paste from Excel into DataGraph.  That would also require you to first select the data in DataGraph so you paste over the values.
