Hi,
I was wondering the difference between the perpetual licence through your online store and buying through the Mac App Store.
Are they both one-time-only purchases, i.e. in the future I won’t have to pay for updates etc.? I understand that there may be some minor differences in the application itself.
Thank you
Yes – they are both one time purchases. Here are a some of things to consider:
1 – If you might be interested in additional licenses or setting up a research group, buying direct from Visual Data Tools would be the way to go.
2 – If you would be interested in running DataGraph from the command line, this can be tricky in the Apple version as it is sandboxed. You might want to purchase from us direct.
3 – If you would like to use our beta version with the latest additions and bug fixes, you can do this easier by purchasing direct from our store. If you purchase from Apple, you have to register your copy with us, which is an extra step, as we do not get any user data from Apple.
Otherwise the App store has the same functionality as the version you get direct from our store. We know some users really like the mac App store, while others prefer to purchase direct. We appreciate your purchase either way!
How do I register my App Store version to be able to install beta versions?
Open DataGraph > Account Information for instructions ( in the version downloaded from the App Store).
We also added more information to the FAQs on the purchase page. Scroll below the pricing to see.
