DataGraph takes a different approach to graphing and data analysis.  It can take a little time to see how the program works, but we feel strongly you will be glad you took some time to learn the program.

In addition to asking questions on the forum, here are some resources to help you along the way:

      • DataGraph on YouTube
      • The DataGraph manual  –  Available free for download from the Help menu.
      • The DataGraph on-line Help – Link from the Help menu.

If there is a type of graph you want to create and you are not sure how, post an image here and we can create an example for you!

        Hi dgteam,

The attached chart is a screenshot from https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/datablog/ng-interactive/2020/apr/30/coronavirus-australia-numbers-how-many-new-cases-today-maps-deaths-death-toll-covid-19-stats-statistics-graph-map-by-postcode. It has an x-axis indicating the date and a y-axis for new daily confirmed cases of Covid-19 and its bars are interactive. I guess it was made by some tools similar to R or Python.

Can we achieve an analogue simply with DataGraph?

        Best,

        Peter

Here is a similar example using data from Iceland https://www.covid.is/data.

You have a Date column and a Number column with infections.

Step 1 – Highlight both columns

Step 2 – Select Add Bar under the command menu.

          Screenshot-AddBar

This gives you a simple bar graph with a date axis. Here we have added formatting to remove the lines and add a fill color.

          Screenshot-Customize

The Hover tool is also turned on so you can hover over a bar and see the value.

Turn on the Hover using shift-command-H.

You could also add the other elements of the graph – showing items on the time line.

Currently,  we don’t have a way for you to display the hover on a web page.  Just within DataGraph.  They could have done this graphic using the D3 JavaScript library or there are Plotly libraries for R that can create interactive graphs like this.

Are you looking for the ability to produce a graph with hover elements on a web page?

Thank you. It explains at the current stage. Yes, I’m trying to do a similar chart on the website. Hope the team can successfully develop it in this function.
