Short Lessons

The “Introduction to DataGraph” video series contains 10 short sessions that go into more detail than the Quick Start Guide. Examples illustrate how data is formatted in a spreadsheet versus DataGraph.

  • Lessons 1 to 5 are about entering and importing data. The total run time is about 20 minutes.
  • Lessons 6 to 10 are more in-depth videos about creating, formatting, and exporting graphs. The total run time is about 40 minutes.

1. Create a New File

Learn about the example file window and how to create new files (⌘-N).

Note: The user interface for these videos is 5.0. There was a slight update to the Example File Interface since that version, but the functionality has not changed.

2. Entering Numbers

Save the file and add additional data and text columns for labels (⌘2). Learn how to enter text data properly, using one column for each data type. Learn a shortcut for filling text values and removing rows.

4. Entering Dates

Learn how to create Date columns (⌘4) and distinguish between data types. Use the date formatting options to enter dates flexibly.

5. Copy & Paste Importing

Learn how to copy from a spreadsheet and paste data into a DataGraph file. Use shortcuts to set data types and format your data.

6. Add a Line Plot

Learn to make a line plot using the Plot command. Interactively place labels on the graph. Learn about Hide/Exclude buttons.

7. Selecting Data with Masks

Learn about a key technique in DataGraph – How to apply a Mask. Masks allow you to filter data in a wide variety of ways. Masks eliminate the need to move data around and isolate data sections before graphing.

8. Formatting Graphs

Learn to use the top-down formatting approach in DataGraph. Learn to change settings, such as font, in one graph and then apply the same settings to other graphs. Also, learn how to add and edit legends.

9. Exporting Graphs
