dgraphconnect for App Store users?

I’m very interested in what’s possible with dgraphconnect, but I got DataGraph many years ago via the App Store, and I don’t have it. I tried getting the files the hard way from the app bundle downloaded from the website, but it doesn’t detect that DataGraph is running (which I thought might be an issue–probably the wrong binary location or something).

Is there any way for an App Store purchaser to get access to this tool?

You should be able to register your copy of DataGraph with us, and then download the version of DataGraph from our site. It examples how to register at the bottom of the purchase page.

Thanks for the quick reply! I was able to register successfully with my Apple account email address, and then download, install, and run the beta version (confirmed I’m running 5.0.1b now).

However, despite removing the old version completely, making sure that the beta version is installed in /Applications/Datagraph.app/… and not some other location, I still only ever get a message that says “DataGraph is not running.” when I try to execute any “./dgraphconnect …” commands from the console.

I even tried opening my graph file with “./dgraph <file>” first (which seemed to work) and then trying the dgraphconnect command, and I get the same message. I tried with sudo for the heck of it and that also didn’t work. Am I missing something? Do I need to reboot or do some other step first?

Any ideas on this? I’d love to be able to use dgraphconnect as intended.

I disabled dgraphconnect a few months ago. The main reason is that in order to work it needs to listen in on a port. But that port is just a local port, not a network port.

I enabled this again in the latest beta (just uploaded), and going forward I will add it as an option in the preference panel. The default will be to not enable it, but you can turn that on, and the dgraphconnect will tell you to do so.

Perfect! I like the idea of making it an option, if security (or even just an annoying OS pop-up or something) is a concern. I’ll try it out as soon as I get a chance.
